Dollar Express sprang up quietly in a nondescript office park last year off East Independence Boulevard. To address federal anti-trust concerns in its agreement to acquire Matthews-based Family Dollar, Dollar Tree sold about 330 Family Dollar stores to Sycamore Partners, which was in the process of developing the stores into a new concept, Dollar Express.

Astasha September 20, 2016 I Like to go into the Dollar General and do my shopping. I like the people that work there but on several occasions the employees are so busy putting out stock that they don’t pay attention to the customers waiting in line. In the last several months, several times I’ve had to yell to get an employee to come check me out. A couple weeks ago a lady was needing to return something and was yelling for an employee to come help her when i walked in. I went to get something to drink and walked to the back to look around probably 5 or more minutes had went by and when i went to the counter to check out the lady was still up there trying to get an employee to help her. I noticed two workers working down the same aisle maybe 3 aisles away from the register and I had to get their attention. My husband was at the Dollar General in Russellville at the end of Weir Rd and had the same thing happen to him, so he left money on the counter and walked out. The employee was standing outside infront of the store smoking. I work right next door to the store in Dover, AR and like usual i will go in and buy myself something to drink. Well today thats what I did and not noticing someone had taken that bottle and opened it and marked around the rim with a perminant marker. How do i know they didn’t spit in it? or put something else in it? I will not be shopping at any Dollar generals stores anymore. I would rather drive 20 extra miles and drive by 3 dollar general stores to fight through Wal-Mart than to go back. Its really sad that you can’t shop at your local small town store and get good service when you need just a few things. Reply

Today I refused to shop at my favorite store in Boiling Springs, NC 28017 , Dollar General, simply because the outside of the store continues to be littered with trash on the pavement entrance and in the so-called landscaping shurbery. It’s nasty. I believe a man named Glenn is the district manager and I’m sure there would be many standing in line for his job. I went 2 doors down to the Dollar Tree and spent $25.00. Such a nice clean store inside and out. This is a university town and it’s my town. Next local shopping outing will see me at Dollar Tree or the Mighty Dollar on the other side of the one-and-only stop light in town. I have options. Nancy Blalock. (hidden).
